Many patriotic Americans ask great questions about proper and improper display of the U.S. Flag. On June 22, 1942, Congress passed a joint resolution, later amended on December 22, 1942, that encompassed what has come to be known as the U.S. Flag Code. The Flag Code, which formalizes and unifies the traditional ways in which we give respect to the flag, also contains specific instructions on the proper display of the flag, how the flag is not to be used and more importantly, how citizens should behave around the American Flag. Visit our Resource Section for flag etiquette as stated in the U.S. Flag Code.
